Rydon Ghana ("Rydon", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what personal data we collect when you use our platform as a passenger or driver-partner, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Please read it carefully before using our services.
1Who We Are
Rydon Ghana Limited is a technology company registered in Ghana that connects passengers with independent driver-partners through our mobile application. We act as the data controller for personal data collected through the Rydon Rider and Driver apps, and this website.
Our designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) can be contacted at privacy@Rydonghana.com.
2Information We Collect
All Users (Passengers & Drivers)
- Account information: Full name, phone number, email address, and profile photo at registration.
- Location data: Precise GPS location while the app is in use. Drivers may enable background location for ride matching when the app is minimised.
- Trip data: Pickup and drop-off addresses, route taken, trip duration, distance, fare, timestamps, and ratings given or received.
- Communications: In-app chat messages between passengers and drivers, and messages sent to our support team.
- Device & technical data: Device model, operating system, app version, crash logs, performance data, and push notification token.
Passengers Only
- Payment information: Mobile Money (MoMo) number used to pay for trips, processed through our payment partners. We do not store your full MoMo credentials.
- Trip preferences: Saved home and work addresses, favourite places.
Driver-Partners Only
- Identity documents: Ghana Card number and expiry, driver's licence number and expiry — collected for KYC verification as required by Ghanaian law.
- Vehicle information: Make, model, year, colour, licence plate, and vehicle registration number.
- Compliance documents: Vehicle registration certificate, roadworthy certificate, and insurance certificate uploaded during onboarding.
- Financial information: Mobile Money wallet number and network for payout processing. Your 4-digit withdrawal PIN is stored as a cryptographic hash — we never store or can access the plain PIN.
- Earnings records: Per-trip earnings, weekly summaries, withdrawal history, and tier/points data.
- Performance data: Acceptance rate, completion rate, online hours, and rider ratings.

4How We Share Your Information
🔒 We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described below.
With Other Users
When a trip is matched, passengers see the driver's first name, profile photo, vehicle details, and real-time location. Drivers see the passenger's first name and pickup location. Phone numbers are never shared directly — all calls and messages go through our masked communication system.
With Service Providers
We share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the platform, including providers of:
- Cloud infrastructure — servers and database hosting.
- Document & image storage — secure storage of KYC and profile documents.
- Payment processing — Mobile Money disbursements and passenger payment collection.
- SMS & push notifications — ride alerts, OTPs, and account communications.
- Maps & navigation — route calculation and trip tracking.
All service providers are bound by data processing agreements requiring them to protect your data and use it solely for services provided to Rydon.
For Legal & Safety Reasons
We may disclose information if required by Ghanaian law, court order, or government authority, or where necessary to protect the safety of users, third parties, or the public.
Business Transfers
If Rydon is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you at least 14 days before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5Location Data
Location is central to how Rydon works. Here is exactly how we handle it:
- Passengers: Location is collected while the app is open and in use to show your position on the map, calculate nearby drivers, and suggest pickup points.
- Drivers — foreground: Location is continuously shared while you are online and available for trips, and during active trips, for matching and navigation.
- Drivers — background: If you grant background location permission, your location is collected when the app is minimised solely to enable ride matching. You can revoke this in your device settings at any time; doing so will prevent you from receiving trip requests when the app is in the background.
- Trip routes: The route taken during each trip is stored as part of your trip history for fare calculation, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance.
- Retention: Live location data is not retained after a trip ends. Trip route data is retained with the trip record (see Section 6).
6Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for the periods required by Ghanaian law:
- Account data: Retained for 5 years after account closure.
- Trip records: Retained for 7 years for tax and regulatory compliance.
- KYC documents (drivers): Retained for the duration of your partnership plus 5 years after closure.
- Financial records (earnings, payouts): Retained for 7 years in accordance with Ghanaian financial regulations.
- Device & technical logs: Retained for 90 days.
- Support communications: Retained for 3 years.
You may request earlier deletion of data that is not subject to a legal retention requirement by contacting privacy@Rydonghana.com.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that materially affects your rights or freedoms, we will notify you and the Data Protection Commission of Ghana as required by law.
